Partnering with you.

Many of you don't know that Luke and I are musicians or that we're missionaries. Those things don't make it on social media a lot because they're just part of the fabric of our lives. We have known for awhile that we would eventually do both full time in place of day jobs and Luke supported me in making the shift first. I quit my nannying job -- and then found out we were pregnant. In a flash I had stepped into the life calling I'd always known I carried: wife & mother, but it didn't take away from the other callings I'd recognized in my single years. •••
I always knew I was going to work alongside my husband in his occupation. Something business-y, something artistic, something missional is what I saw. The first time I heard Luke's music it was just him on a guitar in a basement room but it blew me away. I became one of his biggest fans and pushed him to get on sharing it with the public. He had always meant to. We released our first album three months after our wedding as @midairband and played some pretty sweet shows up until I was eight months pregnant -- and then after Naomi was a month old we started again. Luke has written many news songs in our first year together and we're excited to go into the studio again this year to record. •••
A family friend once asked me, "So have you gotten the wanderlust out of your system? Are you ready to settle down now?" I immediately and passionately replied, "I'm always going to be moving places. I'm called to the world." One of the first words Luke received from the Lord was, "Music is your ticket to the nations." We are missionaries at heart. | "What's a missionary?" "A missionary is someone who tells other people about Jesus!" "Oh! So dad is a missionary." -- exchange between @4littlefishys kiddos recently | You guys probably don't know that we invited the homeless to our wedding and one got saved, that we've been robbed and forgave the thief and he said "I want to accept this Jesus". You may not know that we support other missionaries with a fervor and want to jump in with both feet to whatever they're doing wherever they pour out -- because that's Papa's heart -- so we almost went with Overland Missions this year with @loganortwerth and Danny, but then God led us to IHOPU in Kansas City instead. You don't know that we give things away so much because we see people in need and obediently respond or that we want to be able to easily go where we're led and stuff is just stuff -- it's not worth hanging onto if it's holding us back. You wouldn't know that for a week now we've been helping a man who Luke found coming off of drugs and brought to church where he became supernaturally sober and has been ever since -- who also accepted Jesus, is being discipled, got baptized in the Holy Spirit and wants to be baptized in water. To some it sounds courageous, glamorous or impossible. It's our reasonable service though (Rom. 12:1) and we find ourselves in these humble testimonies because we're willing to say, "Yes" when God asks us to join Him in what He is doing. •••
We were both feeling it and we heard it multiple times as confirmation so we are stepping out in faith. God equips for what He calls us to, with Himself and with the Body; He isn't provider, He is PROVISION. Luke's last day at both of his jobs before we move to KC was this past Saturday. Since then we've launched a campaign because we are doing this full time, starting now. Full time missions, full time musicians, full time parents and one full time student. •••
I didn't mean for my wedding dress to get muddy, it just happened as we were celebrating and serving. It stands forever as a picture to me of the Bride of Christ in the earth -- righteous, pure, holy and traveling through the dirty, rough, uncomfortable places because of Love. Follow our ministry, follow the example set and partner with us in this normal Christian life. As my sister once said, "You go! I'll send!" gofundme.com/the-osicka-family

Transparency in funding.

I felt this post was called for, especially as we celebrate reaching 1/10 of our first month's goal on our gofundme campaign ! I know that some people, if not most people, when they saw my baby registry thought I was a little ridiculous. A lot of items were not cheap. That wasn't because I was trying to live beyond our means or that I wasn't being realistic. I carefully curated a registry with specific needs for our baby, in our lifestyle, all from ethical companies and small businesses. Organic, fair trade, eco-friendly -- everything in the registry fell into one or more of these camps. Why? Because I knew that people were going to buy things for us and I wanted those purchases to positively impact all parties involved in the production of each item. Our purchasing power is real -- it can make a huge shift in the world of modern-day slavery.  Perhaps you've checked out our gofundme campaign or seen our updates and had the similar thought, "What on ea...
